Sex Scene...What?

Quick and Dirty Skye Tips #1: Romancing Up to the Sex Scene!

Hello Skye Readers!

I just finished a story, and guess what? My big sex scene was the last thing I wrote. Crazy, right? Especially for a person who writes mostly erotic fiction.

But I realized this was a good thing. Why? It's all about the build up. That's even more important the the sex itself.

A look. A small touch. A craving. It all leads up to the big connection. It's part of the fantasy.

The stuff that rarely happens in real life. Okay, it happens to the lucky ones. As a single girl, I'm happy to live out the fantasy until the real build up comes along. Maybe even after that.

What did I learn along the way? I'm calling these Quick and Dirty Skye Tips #1. LOL

1. Story Elements Need to Set the Romantic Mood

This may be a "Duh" moment, but I don't just mean candles and music. I mean if it's a werewolf romance, show him graze her skin with his fangs. If he's a warlock and she's a witch, something magical needs to happen, damn it. The story elements need to be present in the romancing.

2. In Threesomes, A Person Can Easily Be Left Out

A lot of my writing has more than two people. Usually, it's two men and a woman. I've noticed that I can easily make one person the third wheel. It may be that the character hasn't spoken in a while or the other two aren't acting and reacting to them. Everyone deserves a chance in the spotlight.

3. Dialogue Needs to Work With the Action

If the female lead is being, let's just say orally, pleasured, chances are she's not going to say three long lines of dialogue. Unless someone is really bad at the task at hand. Short and clipped dialogue can come in handy during peak moments. ;-)

So what's your fantasy build-up? Is it a werewolf that can smell your arousal from a mile away? A vampire who craves your body and your blood? Or just a good old-fashioned guy who can't get enough of you?

Alpha Warlocks of Kala West #1 - One Cover Down, Two to Go

My First Alpha Warlocks Cover!

Hello Skye Readers!

One thing that's great about doing my own covers is being proud of the finished product. I have great friends who always give me awesome feedback on my covers.

This is the most excited I've been about a series in a while. I know I still have at least two others to finish (especially The Erotic Circus and Women Warriors of Lustania), but that's what I love about ideas. You never know what's going to take off and beg you to finish it.

Here is the first of Alpha Warlocks of Kala West, The Alpha Warlocks' Claim:

I'm excited and scared at the thought of the release, but I'm damn proud of the turnout. I admit, I'm biased :-P.

But I'm curious. What emotions and thoughts come out when you do your cover or art creation?

Happy Sensual Reading,
